Periyavachan Pillai Praised the Almighty as "Purushothaman"
Purusothaman solves all sort of problems faced by the devotees here. Thirumangai Azhwar says that who ever hears the Glory of Purusothaman reap the benefits and not only the singers. Periyavachan Pillai praised Almighty as Purushothaman. The Legend for the Theertham which is being worshipped as "Thiruparkadal". - Once Vyakrapatha Mahirishi, the Rishi with the Legs of Tiger along with his child named as Ubamanyu came down here to Thiruvanpurusothaman. One day the Rishi left Ubamanyu alone at his hermitage and went out to pluck the flowers to make a grand garland for the Almighty. He went very far. At that time in his hermitage Ubamanyu felt hungry and cried for the milk. Pleased Goddess Lakshmi Devi asked Parantahaman to come with milk to feed the child Ubamanyu. Instead of bringing little milk, the Almighty brought the entir Milky Ocean itself here to Thiruvanpurusothamam Divyadesam to feed milk to Ubamanyu. Hence temple theertham is being worshipped as Thiruparkadal.
According to Periyavachan Pillai, there are three types of Human Beings, Adhaman, Madhiman and Utthaman. Adhaman is a one who never cares for others but only about him. Second one is Madhiman who cares for others too and the Third one is Utthaman who even suffer himself for doing good things to all others. Perriyavachan Pillai praised the Almighty in Thiruvanpurusothamam Divyadesam as Purushothaman, means above all these three types.
